King Oedipus, from SillySeason, part of the “Western canon” of the Oedipal myth of Sophocles to contemporaneity, allowing a reinterpretation and rewriting of the present time, through the exploration of various stages of recognition and of the ethical pathos that accompanies it.
According to Harold Bloom, Oedipus may have a Hamlet complex, a pathology that leads him to “think not too much, but too well”. This characteristic will tend to become extinct throughout the creation proposed by the SillySeason collective, as a symbol of the distortion of reality in which we live. Today, think too much well or think rationally, constitutes an impossible task, whether in view of to the dystopian era in which we live, either due to the lack of tools that allow a filtering of the received information. In King Oedipus, by SillySeason, the myth emerges, as a symbol of impossible judgment, immersed in rhetoric distorted beliefs, futurology, demagoguery and mysticism, without the capacity to recognize the truth of the facts.
This will be our tragedy.
