A theatre play made for television
A doll’s house is transformed into a maze of mirrors, where history lingers and tends to repeat itself. The performers strive to assume a role, an identity, but the house expands to infinity and makes everything vast and identical at the same time. Therefore, bags are packed, and home is left behind in an immense escape. History, Art, and Art History are one and the same: a homely tragedy.
Based on the 1979 play by Henrik Ibsen, A Doll’s House, Dolls proposes a scenic mechanism used for recording the making of a television series, while testing the identities of the performers and the liquidity of the narrative. Dolls represents History that acts, not the classic as it is remembered.
